Auger Loizeau James Auger, Jimmy Loizeau (Auger Loizeau) project, critical, body
James Auger and Jimmy Loizeau have been collaborating on projects since the concept of the Audio Tooth Implant was first conceived in October 2000. Industrial Design heretofore has mostly been concerned with the process of bringing products to market, making them desirable and therefore saleable. With a slight sideways step: removing the commercial aspect from the requirements of the object, it can adopt a whole different agenda, questioning the process that gives birth to it rather than blindly conforming to it. In this way design can comment on consumer culture, the role of products and the ubiquity and function of technology. It becomes a tool for questioning rather than problem solving. Through the development and dissemination of speculative and critical products and services we hope to instigate a broader analysis of what it means to exist in a technology rich environment both today and in the near future.
Danish Design School (Danish Design School) craft, art, Materials and Interaction, Design Values, Design Theory and Methods, research, design school, innovative shaping
The education and research programmes are organized in four centres: Centre for Fashion Design, Centre for Industrial Design, Centre for Communication Design and Centre for Arts and Crafts. We offer a wide series of study programmes, covering different approaches to design: visual communication, fashion design, industrial design, branding, furniture design, spatial design, textile design, design for digital media, ceramics, glass design and design for film and TV.

with more than 2,500,000 readers a month from over 190 countries, (including 250,000 subscribers to our monthly newsletter) designboom.com is the leading independent publication for key contemporary issues and the critique of all aspects of design, especially those topics which enrich the dialogue between design, creative professionals, industry and society. the milan-based, free internet resource offers snapshot reports from major international design shows, architecture and art exhibitions; interviews and portraits of the protagonists in the contemporary creative scene; design history and in-depth information on the creators of design classics.
ENSCI (Ecole Nationale Superieure de Creation Industrielle) 1982 institute, industrial design, school
Founded in 1982, Les Ateliers-Paris Design Institute (Ecole Nationale Superieure de Creation Industrielle) is the only French national Institute exclusively devoted to industrial design. A public commercial and industrial establishment supervised by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Industry, it broadened its activities to include two other degree programmes in 1985 and 1993: first the Atelier National díArt Textile (ANAT), then a specialist Masterís degree in ìDesign and contemporary technologyî, the denomination of which has recently been modified.
LABoral Benjamin Weil (LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial) art, exhibition centre, industrial design
LABoral Art and Industrial Creation Centre is an exhibition centre for art, science, technology and advanced visual industries. But it is also a venue for artistic and technological production, research and training; and for the dissemination of new forms of art and industrial creation. To fulfil these goals, laboral will be a space for exchange between different art disciplines; a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary centre and a dynamic environment for creators / works / researchers / teachers / audiences.
Making Things (Making Things) 1998 online store, Design/architecture and implementation of desktop, diy, embedded system, Analog and digital circuit design, web applications, Art & Technology, schematic capture, parts sourcing & design for manufacture, PCB layout, mesh networking, Sensor, sensor networks, relay, motor, interface and integration., Physics and Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Product & Industrial Design, Music Technology, Interaction Design & Rapid Prototyping, Wireless device development
in 1998 by a talented design & engineering duo, and surrounded by an experienced team of developers and project managers, MakingThings specializes in the rapid prototyping and development of digital devices, exhibits and environments. We're particularly adept at building, and helping others to build, complex projects that combine software with electronics and that integrate a wide variety input and output devices (such as sensors, motors, and more).

Rights Through Making Ambra Trotto, Kees Overbeeke, Caroline Hummels, Elisabetta Cianfanelli, Joep Frens, Michael Cruz, Gabriele Goretti (TU/e Industrial Design, Universit‡ degli studi di Firenze-Corso di Laurea in Disegno Industriale) manifesto, statement, website, publication
Rights Through Making suggests using the power of design to pave the way for a new approach to our global problems. It seems that we have touched upon the limits of the rationalistic model. Words and communication often overshadow actions and deeds, instead of jointly working towards a solution.
StudioLab Aadjan van der Helm (TU Delft) aesthetic appeal, product experience, intelligence in products, inspiration engineering, emotional design, design for the senses, industrial design, students, research, group of designer, TU Delft, ergonomics-driven, technology-driven, working prototypes
The Studio lab aims at integrating multidisciplinary knowledge on user, technology, and the product usage context. Building working prototypes that are rich in experiential quality and design tools is essential to the research approach. Prototypes with design variables are tested in real environments, in an iterative research through design cycle. Results from user experience testing leads to design knowledge and refinement of research issues.
The T-Shirt Issue Linda Kostowski, Mashallah Design 2008 lasercutter, wearable, geometric garment, personal expression, formal-poetic garment, unconventional t-shirt
Three people are portrayed digitally by scanning their bodies. The output of this scan is a 3d file, which resolution is defined by the amount of polygons, similiar to pixels in a bitmap grafic. Linked with their biographical memories a digital twin of the body is thus created, which expands and personifies the garment in a formal-poetic way. The 3d data is turned into 2d sewing patterns by the use of the unfolding function which is a common tool in industrial design process to make paper models with, the single fabric pieces and the inner interface which defines the edges are cut out by the help of a lasercutter.
TU/e Industrial Design (TU/e) 2001 multidisciplinary staff, interaction design, industrial design, university, school, technology
The Industrial Design course started in 2001 and counts a number of nationalities among its multidisciplinary staff. The emphasis is on ëambient intelligenceí: the design of intelligent products, systems, and services. Over the next couple of years 'ambient care' will receive special attention because health and well-being are among the primary focal areas of both Industrial Design and the TU/e. Because of its broad range of contacts with companies and institutions in Europe and beyond (Singapore, Australia, the United States), Industrial Design is well-equiped to respond to international developments in a pro-active manner.
