Minoru Fujimoto was born in Kobe on August 9, 1983. He is a Research Associate at Tokyo University of Technology in Japan. He received the B.Eng., M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from Kobe University in 2007, 2009 and 2012, respectively. He is a dancer and researcher. His research interests include wearable computing, entertainment computing and performance art. He has developed some interactive systems for dance performance.

In Summer 2007 we intertwine the practices of media arts and sound design, textile and weaving, jewellery, object and fashion design to produce the reskin Wearable Technology Lab. This collaborative project of ANAT, the Australian National University School of Art, the Centre for New Media Arts (CNMA) and Craft Australia places jewellers and fashion designers with new media artists in an intensive three week research and development lab.

In 2009 the School of Design introduced a three-year Bachelor of Design Innovation (BDI) degree offering three new design specialisations: Culture+Context, Industrial and Media. The BDI degree structure provides students with a greater variety of recognised qualifications and the expanded opportunities required to tailor their course of study to their individual interests. This is the first degree within the University to offer a minor, allowing students to include another specialised area of study within their degree programme.

Barbara Layne is the Director of Studio subTela at the Hexagram Institute where she works with a team of graduate students from Visual Arts and Engineering at Concordia University and a variety of international collaborators. The Studio is focused on the development of intelligent cloth structures for the creation of artistic, performative and functional textiles. Natural materials are woven in alongside microcomputers and sensors to create surfaces that are receptive and responsive to external stimuli. Controllable arrays of Light Emitting Diodes present changing patterns and texts through the structure of cloth. Wireless transmission systems have also been developed to support real time communication. In both wearable systems and site related installations, textiles are used to address the social dynamic of fabric and human interaction.

The Tampere University of Technology (TUT) Department of Electronics has conducted research in wearable technology since 1997. The TUT Kankaanp‰‰ Unit, established in 2003, is a research unit specialized in wearable technology. It is a part of a wearable technology competence center located in Kankaanp‰‰, Finland. The Kankaanp‰‰ Unitís personnel are very interdisciplinary and include researchers from electronics, material technology and textile technology background. This enables us to conduct extensive research on different aspects of wearable technology and quickly adapt information and new results from various disciplines.
